Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

• Project Description:

  The proponent proposes to construct a marina, boat basin, new marginal wharves, parking areas and a breakwater extension on the southwest side of the harbor in the community of Heart’s Delight-Islington, NL. This is Phase II of a three-phase initiative to develop marine infrastructure. The project is proposed to start in May 2004 and will take 8 months to complete. The project is proposed to be funded from ACOA, HRDC and in-kind contribution from the Enhancement Committee. 

•  April 12, 2004 - The undertaking was registered. 
•  May 17, 2004 - Public comments are due.
•  May 27, 2004 - The Minister's decision is due.
•  June 1, 2004 - The Minister announced that the undertaking has been released from further environmental assessment.
