Climate Change and Health Impacts Atlantic Conference 2006

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, in partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Environment Canada, recently hosted a conference on climate change and health impacts. The conference included sessions on a wide range of health concerns: temperature related morbidity and mortality; impacts of extreme weather events; water resource issues; water-, food- and vector-borne illnesses; food security; exposure to ultra-violet radiation; specific concerns of vulnerable populations; adaptation of health sector to climate change; socio-economic impacts on community health and well-being; and developments in climate change impact assessment methods.
