Land Management Division
Responsibilities
The Land Management Division is responsible for developing and administering provincial Crown land policy and providing support to other Divisions and Departments in Government with respect to Crown land management. Its core programs are:
- development and administration of Crown land policies to clarify and provide consistency in Crown land allocation;
- implementation of the provincial Cottage Development Program;
- administration of the Land Use Atlas geographic information system, the internal repository for provincial government land use and jurisdictional information;
- coordination of the Interdepartmental Land Use Committee, the internal referral and review process for government administered or sponsored projects;
- provision of a Land Valuation service to ensure fair market value sales of Crown land; and
- administration of Community Infilling Limits which limit development on provincial highways to preserve their function as safe and efficient conveyors of traffic.
Services
The Land Management Division develops land use policy; identifies, plans and develops cottage lot recreation areas; and facilitates co-operation among departments to ensure that there is no conflict with respect to use of Crown lands.
