Summary of Environmental Assessment Process
- Project Description:
The
proponent proposes to develop a sheep farm near Barton, Smith Sound,
Trinity Bay. The site is to the northwest of Smith Sound Provincial Park
and approximately midway between Riders Brook and Snooks Brook. The
proposed farm will be on a 107 hectare site accessed with a 300 metre road
on the north side of Route 232. Approximately 100 breeding ewes and 4 rams
are planned to be imported in the fall of 2005, with expansion in four
years to approximately 500 sheep and 1,000 lambs born annually. Other farm
infrastructure development will include five sheep sheds, a hay barn,
equipment shed and perimeter fencing. Development is planned to commence
in early May, 2005.
