Pollard's Point / Main River Snowmobile Trail

Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

  • Project Description:The proponent proposes to construct a snowmobile trail in the Pollard's Point/Main River area of the Great Northern Peninsula on the west coast of Newfoundland. The trail will be a continuation of existing trails in the area. When completed, this trail will connect two forest access roads in the area and will be used to access the Northern Peninsula primary snowmobile trail. It will be approximately 12 kilometres in length and 6 metres wide. Construction will consist mainly of cutting trees using chain saws and merchantable timber will be salvaged.
  • March 15, 2005 - The undertaking was registered.
  • April 22, 2005 - Public comments are due.
  • May 10, 2005 - The Minister released the project from further environmental assessment.
