Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The undertaking consists of the construction of a modular emulsion manufacturing plant and parking garage at the Scully Mine site in Wabush to supply Cliffs Mines with blasting agent emulsion for mining purposes. In addition to the manufacturing plant and heated parking garage, there will be construction of 778 metres of new rail section and construction of 2.5 kilometres of new access roads to service Scully Mine and other mines in the area. Construction is scheduled to begin in August of 2012.

• June 12, 2012 - The undertaking was registered.
• July 23, 2012 - Public comments are due.
• July 27, 2012 - The Minister's decision is due.
• August 27, 2012 - The undertaking is released.
