Community Mapping -
(Large Scale)
Provides detailed mapping, from
aerial photography, of nearly all Municipalities and surrounding
areas with the exception of the Cities of St. John's and Mount
Pearl. There are 2824 maps at 1:2500 scale, and 223 maps at
1:5000 scale. Since 1991, 1013 new maps have been produced in
vector digital format as collected in the stereo plotted. In
addition 335 of the existing maps were converted to vector
digital format. All of the vector data is fully structured for
GIS applications.
In order to have complete
coverage of all large scale base maps for GIS applications, 1800
of the older paper maps are available in an unstructured vector
digital format. These unstructured maps can be used as a
backdrop image in a GIS application. The maps are registered to
the provincial grid reference system.
