General Status of Species

In 1998 Wildlife Ministers from across Canada agreed to report on the general status of all species in Canada, every 5 years, beginning in the year 2000. Each province or territory will determine the status of all the species within its jurisdiction which will assist in determining the national status for these species. The task of determining status for the tens of thousands of species is a monumental undertaking which will take a number of years.
