Obtaining Permits under Newfoundland
and Labrador’s
Endangered Species Act
Information to be included in a letter when
requesting a permit under the Endangered Species Act:
- Title of proposed
study
- Name, affiliation
and contact information for principal investigator
- Duration of the
proposed study (expected start and completion dates)
- Location of work
- Any other permits
held/applied for
- Objectives of
proposed study (especially with regard to recovery plan)
- Detailed
description of the approach and methods including:
- Predicted
number of individuals affected
-
Capture/handling/immobilization techniques
- Details of
sample collection including justification
- Marking
techniques used
- Protocol for
mortalities or injuries
- Names, positions,
affiliations, and professional/technical qualifications of all
individuals involved in the proposed study
